Terms of Service for SarSys.io API

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the SARSys.io API (“API”), you agree to comply with and be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use the API.

2. API Usage

2.1 Permitted Use

The API is provided for embedding SARsys data into maritime search and rescue software for the purpose of assisting in the coordination of responses to maritime emergencies and saving lives at sea.


You may only use the API in accordance with these Terms and any additional guidelines or documentation provided by SARsys or Maritime Search and Rescue Council.

2.2 Rate Limits

To ensure fair usage and maintain system stability, the API is subject to the following rate limit:
• Maximum of 10 requests per second per user or application.

You are responsible for ensuring your usage adheres to this limit.

3. Prohibited Uses

You agree not to:
• Attempt to bypass or exceed the stated rate limits.
• Use the API to engage in unlawful, abusive, or fraudulent activity.
• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or otherwise attempt to extract source code from the API.
• Resell, sublicense, or provide access to the API to unauthorized third parties.

4. Rate Limiting and Enforcement

4.1 Automated Monitoring

SARsys monitors API usage to enforce rate limits. If your usage exceeds the rate limit:
• Your requests may be throttled or temporarily blocked.
• Repeated violations may result in suspension or termination of access to the API.

4.2 Suspension or Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the API at our sole discretion if you violate these Terms, including exceeding the rate limit.

5. Disclaimer of Warranties

The API is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. SARSys disclaims all warranties, including but not limited to the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

6. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, SARSys shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, arising from your use of the API.

7. Modifications to the API and Terms

SARSys reserves the right to modify or discontinue the API, or update these Terms, at any time without prior notice. Your continued use of the API after such changes constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.

8. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless SARSys or Maritime Search and Rescue Council from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, or expenses (including legal fees) arising out of your use of the API or violation of these Terms.

9. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales, without regard to its conflict of law principles.
