SOLNet with TaskAssist serves as a real-time operational, tactical, and strategic advisor, providing MRCCs and SAR responders with recommendations on resource allocation, prioritising actions, and navigating complex rescue situations. It offers tailored guidance for each incident, considering key factors such as environmental conditions, vessel capabilities, crew competencies, the nature and location of the incident, and the availability of Search and Rescue Units (SRUs). By doing so, TaskAssist helps MRCCs deploy the most suitable resources while ensuring alignment with international standards and best practices. This includes recommending the tasking of SAR-capable assets graded under SOLNet, advising on the deployment of specialised rescue vessels, and ensuring that protocols from IAMSAR Volumes II and III, as well as individual organisational policies and procedures, are followed.
TaskAssist is particularly valuable in large-scale, complex operations such as mass rescues, where efficient coordination of resources is crucial. Drawing on Mass Rescue Operations guidelines and SARI's analysis of past incidents, it provides real-time recommendations to optimise personnel deployment, vessel coordination, and multi-agency collaboration. In addition, it integrates regulatory requirements from SOLAS, UNCLOS, and other maritime guidelines to ensure SAR operations adhere to legal standards and best practices, helping organisations make decisions in line with international laws and rescue obligations.
In addition to immediate incident support, TaskAssist offers SAR teams access to global best practices and training resources, incorporating data from a variety of SAR sources. This allows MRCCs and SAR teams to develop adaptive response strategies that combine global standards with local conditions. By continuously refining practices based on these insights, TaskAssist empowers responders with the knowledge needed for more effective, efficient operations. Deeply integrated into SOLNet, TaskAssist strengthens SAR networks, providing vital support during time critical maritime SAR operations and ensuring that operations remain responsive, compliant, and aligned with the goal of safer and more coordinated maritime SAR efforts worldwide.
